…Even great races, even the #1’s feel like broken hearts. They take such a toll. At the end of either path, one has to stop and understand that they probably fought or suffered harder than they’ve ever fought or suffered…and then immediately demand answers to the brutal interrogation, “How do I fight harder? Suffer harder? And tomorrow? Right now!?” What’s maddening soon becomes conquered, then inspiring. And as the soreness and fatigue and disappointment start to subside, all that matters is what’s next, and that there’s another fight waiting, and coming. There is. And if there isn’t, then it’s about damn time to pick one.
